Tree removal

28th February, Leyburn

Track maintenance

22nd February, Constable Burton

 

A bad joint had been identified and required some remedial action

 

The mud was replaced with ballast, then the track was jacked and packed. Any loose or worn track components were tightened or replaced. The fishplates were also oiled.

 

Tree removal

21st February, Wensley

 

To improve the sightline for the road crossing, trees on the left of the picture were down to be removed

Crossing Replacement

7th February, Ainderby

 

The old crossing timers are removed 

 

New panlock keys replaced the old worn ones. The years of mud build up was also cleaned out.

 

Once the sleepers and other track components had been checked, the new packing timbers could be nailed down.

 

New ballast was also used.

 

The main crossing timbers being prepared.

 

 

 

 

Sleeper Replacement

24th January, West of Newton le Willows

Work continues on this section, with new panlock keys replacing tired wooden and steel ones

Fishplates were oiled and steel keys were replaced amongst other things.....
