Work to improve the stability of the embankment was also required

Using the bigger of the trees felled a bank support was constructed, this will be finished off with the laying of fresh ballast.

Track repairs

June 6th, Bridge 31 near Preston under Scar

The fishplates and the bolts holding them in place were badly corroded and required replacing

The fishplates were replaced along with the bolts. New sleepers were also put in at this joint and the rails moved to close the gap at the joint. This picture shows the same joint with all works complete.

Level crossing deck replacement

May 31st, Yafforth Level Crossing

The outer concrete units required replacing due to excess wear. In this picture the old units are being removed, old pandrol clips were replaced with new ones as they had suffered from corrosion.

The area underneath the concrete units were cleaned out.

In this picture the replacement units are being put into position.

Here we see the job completed.

Tree removal

May 16th, West of Finghall Station

Work continues on the south side...

Looking back towards Finghall after weeks of tree felling. This work will allow the trackbed to dry up and give passengers a better view.
