Track repairs and drainage
Saturday 26th Jan, Bridge 28 (just west of Leyburn)
All the trees on the south side have been removed recently, this will give the track bed chance to dry out.
This is under bridge 28 where poor drainage had led to the track bed becoming very muddy and waterlogged.
The section of track running over the damaged drain has been lifted, a new drain pipe has been installed and a new layer of ballast has been laid.
Looking west. Here the drain pipe can be seen emerging from underneath the track. The drainage ditch has also been cleared all the way down to the next bridge. The relaying of track has also begun.
Packing the sleepers. The rest of the track should be finished by Sunday 27th.......
