Saturday 26th, Bridge 28, Leyburn

The works train makes its way past Harmby, the JCB is also a passenger

Just under the bridge there was 2 very short sections and some damaged rail that required replacing

The old rail is removed

The new rails in. The old rails lie in the four foot, the 2 short sections on the right and the damaged rail on the left.

Track re-alignment

Saturday 19th, Leyburn Station

At each end of the station there were tight curves in order to align with the platform. To improve train running the radius of the curves were increased, this picture shows work at the start of the day.

Partly done

Job done, now for the other end.

The west end of Leyburn station, as before the curves were relaxed to improve train ride.

The track proved to be quite difficult to move in some places, however we got there eventually

Job done, why not take a ride on the train and see the difference for yourself?

UWC Timber replacement

Saturday 22nd, Ainderby Gates User Work Crossing, Ainderby

The old crossing had become unstable and water was not draining away from the trackbed

All the old timbers were removed and the four foot was then cleaned out.

Some ballast was laid to help with drainage and support for the new timbers.

A well earned break, with coffee kindly supplied by a local resident.

Preparing the timber, to give a good fit over the chairs.

The crossing is ready for use.

Sleeper replacement

Saturday 8th, Springwell Lane, Northallerton

8 Sleepers were replaced

Replacing the sleepers in this area meant we could reclaim the tie bar, seen here just behind the digger.
