Sleeper replacement

Saturday 21st August, Fox Park

The ballast has been removed from around the defective sleepers, here the track is being lifted slightly to help with removal of the chairs.

The track bed is prepared, ready to insert the new sleeper.

Saturday 14th August, Preston Under Scar

Sleepers are dug out ready for removal

A redundant rail is cut up, this will allow it to be moved and then the sleeper taken out from the track and replaced

Work is finished and the track is cleared ready for the Summer steam service to pass by

Fishplates are removed and oiled

The recycled engine oil is applied to the fishplates to allow rail movement

Some vegetation was cleared from the lineside as the jungle takes over......
