Tree removal

August 25th, Aiskew Crossing

Before, looking towards the road crossing, facing Leeming Bar.

 

Trees were removed to improve visibility of the crossing and the warning lights.

 

 

 

Drainage and sign erection

July 21st, Redmire railhead

 

Recent problems with drainage required a new pipe to be laid under the trackbed

 

The excess water is now linked directly to the drainage system

Road crossing upgrade

July 14th, Aiskew crossing

 

The old crossing with the rubber units

 

Using the bruff to remove the old rubber units

 

 

All the rubber units and metal retainers were removed. A section of the old road surface was also removed before being filled in with tarmac right up to the rail. The finished surface is a lot smoother and gives better grip in wet weather.

 

 

 

 

 

Road crossing replacement

July 1st, Yafforth crossing

 

The old crossing with concrete sections

 

The concrete was beginning to show signs of age

 

The concrete sections were removed

 

The ballast was leveled and the sleepers cleaned. Any broken clips were also replaced

 

Before the replacement rubber units are placed in, smaller rubber covers are used to cover the track clips
