Sleeper replacement

Saturday 13th August, Leyburn West (Bridge 25)

Even with the bright weather, it was difficult with low light levels under the bridge

 

Vegetation is still an issue

 

Poor drainage under the bridge meant many sleepers were beyond usable life

 

The steam service is loaded with water, as we clear the  track ready for it to pass.

The fastenings are removed from the old sleepers

 

Digging out of the trackbed ready for the new sleepers

 

New ferrules are put into the chairs ready for the chairscrews to be fastened down
